Privacy Policy

SetupReady is operated by Reid Wilking LLC, doing business as SetupReady (“we”, “us”). We help you find desk-setup gear that fits how you work. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the product, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t run third-party advertising.

What we collect

  • Account information. If you create an account, we receive your email address and name (and profile photo, if you sign in with Google) through our authentication provider, Clerk.
  • Things you create in the app. Saved setups, wishlist items and target prices, gear-vault entries (what you own, what you paid, purchase dates, warranty lengths), engine-tuning preferences, alert settings, and any setups you choose to publish publicly.
  • Quiz and usage analytics.When you complete the quiz, we record the resulting setup style, budget, and skipped categories, linked to your account if signed in, and otherwise tied only to the random browser identifier described under Cookies below. We also count usage of features (for example, how often setups are saved or exported) to understand what’s useful.
  • Region preference. We detect your country from your request (via our host, Vercel) to show approximate local prices, and store your manual choice in your browser and, if signed in, with your account.
  • Feedback. If you use the feedback form, we receive what you write and any contact details you include, delivered to us by email via Resend.
  • Payments (when paid tiers launch). Purchases will be processed by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. We never see or store your card details; we receive confirmation of your purchase or subscription status.
  • AI assistant conversations (when it launches).Messages you send to the setup assistant, along with your saved-setup context, are processed by Anthropic’s Claude API to generate responses. We don’t store these conversations on our servers — they live in your browser session — and under Anthropic’s API terms your conversations are not used to train their models. Please don’t include sensitive personal information in assistant messages.

What we don’t collect

  • No card or bank details (handled entirely by the payment processor).
  • No precise location — country-level only.
  • No third-party advertising trackers, and we don’t sell or rent personal information to anyone.

How we use it

  • To run the product: generate recommendations, save your setups, and remember your preferences.
  • To send emails you’ve requested by using the relevant features: price-drop alerts, weekly digests, restock notices, purchase reminders, and warranty reminders (via Resend). You can stop any of these using the controls in your account or the instructions in each email; we may still send essential account, security, billing, and service messages needed to run your account.
  • To improve SetupReady, using aggregated quiz and feature-usage statistics.
  • To respond when you contact us.

Affiliate links

As an Amazon Associate, SetupReady earns from qualifying purchases. Product links go to Amazon with our affiliate tag. Amazon may set its own cookies when you visit their site; their handling of your data is governed by Amazon’s privacy policy, not ours.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and browser storage for functionality: keeping you signed in (Clerk), remembering your theme, region, and interface preferences, and internal administration. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers.

We also set two first-party cookies to understand which of our own videos and links bring people to SetupReady:

  • sr_vid — a random identifier for your browser, stored for one year. It is not linked to your name or email, and we use it only to recognise that (for example) a quiz completed today came from the same browser as an earlier visit.
  • sr_attr — if you arrive through a tagged link (such as one in a video description), this records which link it was, for 90 days. It stores the campaign name and the page you landed on. It does not store your quiz answers.

Both are first-party, HTTP-only, and readable only by us — never by another site. If you would rather not be counted, clearing your cookies for this site removes both, and blocking cookies prevents them entirely; nothing about SetupReady stops working either way.

How we understand what’s working

To see where the site is confusing or broken, we use Microsoft Clarity, which records anonymised interactions — the pages you visit, where you click and scroll, and where things go wrong. Clarity masks the text you type by default, and we additionally mask the feedback form and all sign-in fields, so it never captures your email, password, or anything you write. It is used only to improve the product; we do not use it for advertising. Clarity sets its own cookies and processes this data on Microsoft’s infrastructure under their terms. If you would rather not be included, browser “Do Not Track” and privacy extensions that block analytics both prevent it, and nothing about SetupReady stops working.

Who processes data on our behalf

We use a small set of service providers, each receiving only what they need to do their job: Clerk (authentication), Supabase (database), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email, including feedback delivery), Microsoft Clarity (product analytics — see below), Lemon Squeezy (payments, when live), and Anthropic (AI assistant responses, when live). Product data comes from the Amazon Creators API and Keepa; those feeds are about products, not about you.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information — including access controls and reputable, security-focused service providers. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Data retention and deletion

Account data and things you create are kept while your account exists. You can delete individual saved setups, wishlist items, and vault entries at any time from your account. To delete your account and its data entirely, email us at support@getsetupready.comand we’ll complete the deletion from our active systems within 30 days. Copies may persist for a limited additional period in encrypted backups before rolling off, and in our email provider’s delivery logs. Feedback submissions are kept as long as they’re useful for improving the product. Payment and transaction records (once paid tiers launch) are retained by our merchant of record as required for tax and accounting law. Anonymous, aggregated statistics may be retained indefinitely.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing. As a matter of policy, we honor access, correction, export, and deletion requests from anyone, anywhere — just email us. We process personal information to provide the service you’ve asked for, to send communications you’ve requested, and for our legitimate interest in improving SetupReady; we don’t make automated decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects. If you’re in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Children

SetupReady isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll update the date above and, for significant changes affecting signed-in users, notify you by email or in the app.
